For a few years, the music industry has been critical of the media and how they are not willing to play their music. I thought this was the case until Friday when I listened to Ignition on HomeBoyz Radio. The show was what I would describe as one of the most lit shows I have listened to in a long time.
Keeping it Kenyan all the way
This is the thing that endeared me to the show: the way they have been able to make sure they have the expose the Kenyan talent on their show. They have made sure that artistes do not have something to complain about or their music is not being played in the country. They have given the artistes a chance to work on their songs and make sure they have a space so that they can be exposed to the world.
They do not do this for an hour then they leave it at that. They make sure the whole show, which is three hours long, is strictly a Kenyan playlist affair.
They make sure the Kenyan playlist is very inclusive, with them giving all Kenyan artistes a chance. This makes the show patriotic without it playing the so-called patriotic songs.
Mix of both the old and the new
The show mixes the old and the new of the music industry in the country. They play a wide range of the music in the country and they try to expose the music industry in the country. They try to give everyone a chance to have their music played. Be it the old artistes who have been in the scene for a longtime and managed to leave a mark in the country.
They also give the new artistes a chance to expose their talent. They give them space to also get a big break. Even though it is good to respect the old, it is important to also give a chance to the new talent to also get into view and make sure they have the right information on the show.
Discussing the trending topics in the country
Even though the show supports Kenyan talent, they also have an eye for what is happening in the country. You will definitely love the way they discuss matters that are affecting the country. They do not have to discuss politics in depth but they do discuss it in a fun manner that you will absolutely love. They discussed the way the country had seen the jubilee primaries in the country and what the aspirants were willing to do to be elected.
They do not leave the matters to what is happening in the country. They do not limit themselves to the matters in the country. They also take a look at the matters in the international community. You can get to listen to their views on the dramas of the lives of the people in other countries and what they think of them actually.
